Eternity
|
 Even as a young guy growing up, time always fascinated me. The whole nature of it's subjectiveness. A bunch of guys got together and constructed the idea of breaking the day down into recordable and definable moments, and for what? So business would run smoother? I used to think time and being "on time" was a sham but since my awakening through A Course In Miracles my experience of time is quite different. Here's Jesus;
"Time is your friend, if you leave it to the Holy Spirit to use. He needs but very little, to restore God's Whole power to you. He Who transcends time FOR you, understands what it is for. Holiness lies not in time, but in Eternity. There never was an instant in which God's Son could lose his purity. His changeless state is beyond time, for his purity remains forever beyond attack, and without variability. Time stands still in his holiness, and changes not. And so it is no longer time at all. For, caught in the single instant of the eternal sanctity of God's creation, it is transformed into forever."
Wow, nice. The workbook of the Course encourages the new student to practice this idea of " the Holy Instant". Spending an instant, opening your Mind and giving everything to God. It has already been remembered for you.
"Give the eternal instant, that eternity can be remembered for you, in that shining instant of perfect release. Offer the miracle of the holy instant through the Holy Spirit, and leave His giving it to you to Him. The Atonement is in time, but not FOR time. Being for YOU, it is for the eternal. What holds remembrance of God, cannot be bound by time. No more are you. For, unless God is bound, you cannot be. An instant, offered to the Holy Spirit, is offered to God on your behalf, and in that instant, you will awaken gently in Him."
As you awaken you see that time is actually already over, this dream is nothing but a memory of our return. Time will give you ever opportunity to see that while your that thought it brought your eventual demise, it was always only ever offering you eternity.
"In the blessed instant, you will let go all your past learning, and the Holy Spirit will quickly offer you the whole lesson of peace. What can take time, when ALL the obstacles to learning it have been removed? Truth is so far beyond time, that ALL of it happens at once. For as it was created one, so its oneness depends not on time at all.
Be not concerned with time, and fear not the instant of holiness which will remove ALL fear. For the instant of peace is eternal, because it is wholly without fear. It WILL come, being the lesson God gives you, through the Teacher HE has appointed, to translate time to eternity." ACIM ~ Time and Eternity

Fear
|
 In this world there appears to be many things which arouse fear in you. The Course will express the idea that "nothing real can be threatened". While that may seem reasonable to you as a concept, how does that effect you as an experience of being in this world? When you are afraid, things aren't always so black and white. The panic and anxiety tend to make you unreasonable, that is why training your mind is so important. Here's Jesus talking about the action of looking at your fear but also the need to understand that it is nothing but a mask to hide the deep cause.
"Fear is a symptom of your deep sense of loss. If, when you perceive it in others, you learn to SUPPLY the loss, the basic CAUSE of fear is removed..."
If there is no loss in you, there can be no loss in anyone, that is why He expresses it as "when you perceive it in others" because they are nothing but a reflection of your mind.
"...Thereby you teach yourself that fear does not exist in You, for you have in yourself, the means for removing it, and have demonstrated this by giving it. Fear and love are the only emotions of which you are capable. One is false, for it was made out of denial, and denial Depends on the real belief in what is denied for its own existence."
"By interpreting fear correctly, as a positive affirmation of the underlying belief it masks, you are undermining its perceived usefulness by rendering it useless. Defenses which do not work AT ALL are AUTOMATICALLY discarded. If you raise what fear conceals to CLEAR-CUT, UNEQUIVOCAL PRE-DOMINANCE, fear becomes meaningless. You have denied its power to conceal love, which was its only purpose. The mask which YOU have drawn across the face of Love has disappeared."
"If you would look upon Love, which IS the world's reality, how could you do better than to recognize, in every defense AGAINST it, the underlying appeal FOR it? And how could you better learn of its reality, than by answering the appeal for it by GIVING it? The Holy Spirit's interpretation of fear DOES dispel it, for the AWARENESS of truth cannot BE denied. Thus does the Holy Spirit replace fear with love, and translate error into truth. And thus will YOU learn of Him how to replace your dream of separation with the fact of unity. For the separation is only the DENIAL of union, and, correctly interpreted, attests to your eternal knowledge that union is true."ACIM ~ The Mechanism of Miracles
There is only love. When you come across anything else, it must be fear, which is simply a lack of love but as you supply the lack, the fear will disappear because there is no such thing as fear |

Heal
|
 No one expresses healing better then Jesus in His Course In Miracles. As I have probably mentioned before, for me healing is more of a by product of waking up. This next section talks about the idea of level confusion and looking for the correction or healing where it doesn’t belong.
“Our emphasis is now on healing. The miracle is the means, the Atonement is the principle, and healing is the result. To speak of "a miracle of healing" is to combine two orders of reality inappropriately. Healing is not a miracle. The Atonement, or the final miracle, is a remedy and any type of healing is a result. The kind of error to which Atonement is applied is irrelevant. All healing is essentially the release from fear. To undertake this you cannot be fearful yourself. You do not understand healing because of your own fear.”
So as healer you first have to look at the idea of what it is YOU are afraid of. No real change is possible until you have at least been willing to take that step.
"A major step in the Atonement plan is to undo error at all levels. Sickness or "not-right-mindedness" is the result of level confusion, because it always entails the belief that what is amiss on one level can adversely affect another. We have referred to miracles as the means of correcting level confusion, for all mistakes must be corrected at the level on which they occur. Only the mind is capable of error. The body can act wrongly only when it is responding to misthought. The body cannot create, and the belief that it can, a fundamental error, produces all physical symptoms…”
And this is where all your problems will occur; trying to “fix” the body. But when you look at it reasonably you see the futility of curing a physical illness only to the patient die of something else. It’s pointless. Especially when it dawns on you that you can’t die.
"All material means that you accept as remedies for bodily ills are restatements of magic principles. This is the first step in believing that the body makes its own illness. It is a second misstep to attempt to heal it through non-creative agents. It does not follow, however, that the use of such agents for corrective purposes is evil. Sometimes the illness has a sufficiently strong hold over the mind to render a person temporarily inaccessible to the Atonement. In this case it may be wise to utilize a compromise approach to mind and body, in which something from the outside is temporarily given healing belief. This is because the last thing that can help the non-right-minded, or the sick, is an increase in fear. They are already in a fear-weakened state. If they are prematurely exposed to a miracle, they may be precipitated into panic. This is likely to occur when upside-down perception has induced the belief that miracles are frightening.”
That is why the whole teaching is “go and see a doctor”. If you really believe the light of healing could do something for you then you’d be well. There’s no sense in suffering from the guilt of “should I use medicine or not?” Your mind has already accorded it to have value you might as well use it. What’s more miraculous then an aspirin!? Can I get away with expressing the idea that all your attempts at being well is what your sickness is! I just don’t want you to be afraid. The quantum healing that can literally change everything can become quite fearful to those unwilling to change.
"The value of the Atonement does not lie in the manner in which it is expressed. In fact, if it is used truly, it will inevitably be expressed in whatever way is most helpful to the receiver. This means that a miracle, to attain its full efficacy, must be expressed in a language that the recipient can understand without fear. This does not necessarily mean that this is the highest level of communication of which he is capable. It does mean, however, that it is the highest level of communication of which he is capable now. The whole aim of the miracle is to raise the level of communication, not to lower it by increasing fear." ACIM ~ Healing as Release from Fear |
